Chapter 5

Political Actions

Ariel woke early with her mate wrapped around her. If only they could stay that way or even, make love for a while. Today might turn out to be the worst day since she’d become a wolf. How was that possible with all the bad shit that had gone down? All those things had been reversed. Nothing had ever gone so wrong it couldn’t be corrected.

None of her clan, at least not that she’d known of, had ended up somewhere they weren’t supposed to be. Fated mates, all of them without exception. The council was thinking of ending all that. Those fools were letting Burt Hampton the pack alpha convince them that they could all take a white wolf and keep them against their will.

The sad thing was she’d never seen it coming. Maybe it had been a mistake to reject a seat on the council. She’d still not found anyone to take a seat there, but maybe she’d let things distract her. Autumn might be a good choice. After all, she was beautiful, educated, and knew how to fight. Those were all good traits for an unwilling politician.

No, Autumn didn’t want to do it, and that made her an even better choice. Someone hungry for power was no choice at all. Since she didn’t want the position, she’d be perfect. Damon would help train her. Maybe this bad situation could be controlled and reversed. She liked to be positive, it worked better than being negative and terrified all the time. It also made her happy Harm was attending with her.

The trip to New York would be long and boring, but as an author and the family matriarch, she could keep busy. Catching up on her sleep wouldn’t hurt either. Their third child rested under her heart little bigger than a bean. They’d found out just a few days ago and the results had barely registered, she was so early in her pregnancy. That’s what white wolf fertility combined with Blake’s aggressive seed would do.

After this child, she would see if the witches could give her a break. Three babies in less than five years was simply too much when it could be slowed down. They had many years to complete their family. She wasn’t the only white wolf dropping babies right and left. Marissa was a witch and should know better. Since Marissa had started with twins, they would be tied at three each when they delivered. Marissa was due anytime while Ariel had most of her pregnancy ahead of her. Hopefully, things would calm down before she got big and cranky.

Breakfast was the best one the cook made with steak and eggs and several gourmet items. It was a brunch served with champagne mixed with OJ, it was called mimosa and Ariel loved it. She would limit herself to one glass. Her mood was now improved. She also had some ideas about how to bring the council to heel. They would not use her family the way they planned to.
